Design first, hardware second
Most lighting work is bought backwards — fixtures picked from a website, then an electrician asked to make them fit. We start with a walk-through and a marked-up floor plan: what each room does after dark, where the ceiling joists actually run, what the switch legs allow. The plan is drawn, priced per opening, and yours to keep whoever does the work.
Retrofit specifics we do constantly: 1960s ranch living rooms converted to recessed LED without gutting the ceiling, under-cabinet runs that dodge the tile question honestly, dimming that works with LED loads instead of flickering, and exterior work — steps, address, eaves — on proper wet-rated fixtures with the timer where you can reach it.
