What Keller built, and how it fails

The subdivisions off Keller Parkway are mostly 1990–2010 two-storeys on 150- or 200-amp services — no FPE, no aluminum, no drama. The Keller question is headroom: two five-ton AC systems, an electric range, a pool, and now a 48-amp EV charger. The house that “obviously has plenty of service” books out at 185 amps before the charger, and the calculation is the only honest way to find out.

Roughly half of Tessa’s Keller installs go in clean on existing capacity; the other half need load management — a charger that throttles when the AC peaks — or a subpanel, and a handful genuinely need the service upgrade. All three answers come from the same worksheet, priced before anyone commits to anything.

The acreage lots north of town add the generator conversation: well pumps, gate motors, and enough distance from the substation that outages run longer. Hank covers those with Tessa when the ticket needs both.

A household going two-EV: a 48-amp charger requested for each car, on a 200-amp service already carrying two AC systems and a pool. Booked naively at 125% each, the chargers alone would have demanded 120 amps — over the line before the house turned a light on.

Tessa specified a power-sharing pair: two connectors on one 60-amp circuit, load-managed so they split or alternate automatically. Both cars charge overnight, the service never sees more than the calc allows, and nobody paid for a service upgrade the arithmetic didn’t require.
